Panama City woman arrested on forgery and grand theft charges

Investigators with the Bay County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division have arrested a Panama City woman after it was reported she stole checks from a family member and used them to pay bills and get cash.

Cynthia Cogbill, of Panama City, allegedly stole checks from a family member in October of 2007.

Recently she used one to pay a rent bill, signing the family member’s name. When her land lord contacted the family member to complain about the rent check bouncing, the relative realized what had happened and filed a complaint.

It is believed Cogbill wrote 9 checks with a total value of $540.00. Cogbill is charged with 8 counts of Forgery and one count of Grand Theft.
