Students safe after charter bus on way to Orlando bursts into flames on turnpike

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - A charter bus carrying students from a
Boynton Beach middle school to Orlando's Universal Studios had
mechanical problems and burst into flames on Florida's Turnpike.

Officials on Friday say no injuries were reported among the 43
students from Christa McAuliffe Middle School.

School district officials say the bus was taking students and
chaperones on a science trip to Orlando on Friday morning when it
caught fire in Osceola County.

Another bus carrying other students picked them up, and the
group arrived safely in Orlando later Friday morning.

An official from the charter company says the bus was inspected
Thursday and had no problems. They were still looking for the cause
of the fire.
