FORT BRAGG, N.C. (AP) - Seven paratroopers, including two
Florida men, are facing an investigative hearing into the death of
another soldier at their North Carolina post.
The 82nd Airborne Division said the hearing, known as an
"Article 32" proceeding, was planned Friday at Fort Bragg for
five of the soldiers. Two other soldiers will face a similar
hearing in February.
The seven soldiers were charged with involuntary manslaughter,
which carries a maximum 10-year sentence. Division commander Major
General Curtis M. Scaparrotti will decide whether to convene a
formal trial, or court-martial, for any or all of the soldiers
after he receives the hearing officer's recommendation.
A division spokesman said the hearing was expected to last
