PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say an Indiana financial manager suspected of faking his death in a plane crash has been transferred to the Escambia County, Florida, jail.
Scott Wilson, deputy U.S. marshal with the Northern District of Florida, said Marcus Schrenker was taken from a Tallahassee hospital to the Pensacola facility on Sunday.
A sheriff's office spokesman says Schrenker has been placed on special watch.
Authorities believe Schrenker intentionally crashed his plane last week and made a phony distress call in an attempt to stage his death. He was facing a divorce and financial fraud allegations.
Investigators say Schrenker parachuted out over Alabama and sped away on a motorcycle.
The 38-year-old was arrested at a Florida Panhandle campground where he had slashed his wrists.
