Authorities say they are investigating the death of a man who was struck and killed by a freight train in South Florida.
Authorities say that on Monday night the train was traveling northbound when the engineer saw a man on the tracks in the area of Oakland Park, about five miles north of Fort Lauderdale.
The engineer told detectives he sounded his train horn several times
and applied the emergency brakes. Authorities say the man remained
unresponsive and was struck and killed by the train.
The man's name is being withheld until next of kin is notified.
