SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A Florida man whose conviction in a
1981 killing was overturned because of new DNA evidence has a lot
to celebrate this holiday season.
William Dillon spent 27 years in prison before being released
last month to await a new trial. Brevard County prosecutors have
since dropped the charges.
The 49-year-old spent Christmas with his family in Satellite
Beach for the first time since 1980. His father says Dillon's
exoneration was better than any other present.
Since his release, Dillon has found a job at an auto parts
store, gotten a cell phone, bought a car and learned about the
Dillon was convicted for the bludgeoning death of James Dvorak.
New tests showed his DNA was not on the bloodstained T-shirt
presented as key evidence during his trial.
