ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - He was on the run for only an hour, but now
one Orange County inmate faces more charges for his escape.
Authorities say 39-year-old Jorge Luis Fontanez was arrested
Christmas Eve on charges including burglary, driving on a suspended
license and resisting arrest. He was taken to the hospital Thursday
for an unspecified malady.
There, he saw his chance to get away.
Authorities say he took off from Florida Hospital East in
Orlando on foot while still wearing leg irons.
He made it to an apartment complex nearby but was caught by deputies.
He now faces additional felony escape charges.
An internal investigation is under way.
