PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - A Panama City woman says she was fired from a job booking vacation rentals after she refused to greet callers with "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas."

Tonia Thomas has filed an Equal Opportunity Employment Commission complaint.

Thomas says the phrase "Happy Holidays" contributes to the secularization of Christmas. Her former employer, Counts Oakes
Resort Properties, says she was fired for other reasons.

The Orlando-based Liberty Counsel, which advocates for people
discriminated against because of religion, is representing Thomas.

Who said anything about being a Baptist and who said anything about going to Heaven. This lady stood for her convictions against many trying to generalize this holiday (which is only about Jesus Christ) and good for her. You going to Heaven or ending up in Hell is determined with what you do with Jesus Christ, not whether you say "Merry Christmas" or not. Some of us Christians are just tired of "laying down" while the world tries to take the the impact of Christ on this nation out of public places. Maybe pay attention to the words of some of the songs playing this time of year. Jesus is your only hope. Merry Christmas to all!

First, I doubt this is true. Second, do Baptists have some sort of secret Bible chapter in which Christ declares that you have to say "Merry Christmas" in order to get to Heaven? I can't find that in my Bible anywhere...

Way to go girl! I am proud to hear of someone standing up for The Reason for the Season. Don't take Christ out of Christmas. Merry Christmas to everyone.
