WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Internal affairs documents show
that a veteran Palm Beach sheriff's office police dog handler who ran over and killed two fellow deputies last year will not be disciplined for the crash.
The documents were released on Thursday. A separate internal
probe concluded that the 33-year-old Donta Manuel and 23-year-old
Jonathan Wallace mishandled a tire deflation device, which they
were trying to drag off a dark stretch of road as Cpl. Greg
Fernandez sped toward them in November 2007.
The families of Wallace and Manuel say they plan to file a lawsuit against the sheriff's office. Wallace's mother regarded the results of the internal investigation as a last indignity at the hands of the sheriff's office.
