Two dead in police chase in Atlanta

ATLANTA (AP) - Two people were killed when a car being chased by
state troopers crashed on the Downtown Connector in Atlanta.

The Georgia State Patrol said the fiery crash happened just
after 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Troopers were chasing a Chevrolet Corvette when the vehicle ran
off a highway overpass at Piedmont Road.

The vehicle slammed into a retaining wall then landed in the southbound Connector lane, exploding into flames.

Names of the dead were not immediately released.

The wreck snarled afternoon traffic. It took about two hours to
clear the crash site.
