Hollywood Police Mourn Death of Colleague

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (AP) - Hollywood police officers are morning the
death of one of their own as they continue to investigate the crash
that claimed his life.

Scores of people attended a viewing for Hollywood police officer
Alex Del Rio on Tuesday at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home. Many of the
mourners were fellow police officers, donning formal navy blue
uniforms.

Del Rio died Saturday night after his patrol car slammed into a palm tree and burst into flames. It's unclear why he lost control of his car, but authorities say he may have been pursuing a speeding motorist and swerved to avoid hitting a taxi cab. There were no other injuries.

Police Chief Chadwick Wagner says the 31-year-old Del Rio was "extremely liked."
