MIAMI (AP) - A Miami teenager convicted of fatally stabbing his
friend in a middle-school bathroom is headed to court to face a
life prison sentence.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled to be held Friday for
18-year-old Michael Hernandez. A jury convicted him in September of
murder in the 2004 killing of Jaime Gough when both were 14.

Hernandez had claimed he was not guilty because of insanity but
he was ruled competent to stand trial. Hernandez once claimed he
wanted to become a serial killer and had a list of potential
victims.

The trial was moved to Orlando because of intense media coverage
in the Miami area.

A sentence of life without parole is mandatory in the case.
