A correctional officer at the Bay County Jail in Panama City was fired Wednesday morning and then placed in a cell.
Sheriff Frank McKeithen says 41-year-old Angela Chiles was arrested Wednesday while in the possession of narcotic drugs.
The sheriff says an investigation revealed that Chiles had been selling contraband, including tobacco products, in the jail.
Cigarettes were being re-sold among inmates for up to $50 a pack.
Chiles was immediately terminated.
