A fourth high school student in central
Florida has been treated for a rare bacterial infection.
His family says Liberty High School football player Darius
Bentley had a mild case and was cleared to play sports. His
brother, Alonzo Smith, died Sept. 29 after the infection entered
Two other players at the school in Poinciana in Osceola County
have recovered from the infections caused by methicillin-resistant
Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA.
The infection is usually treatable. People carry it on their
skin or inside their noses. The danger rises when the infection
spreads to the bloodstream.
