Man sentenced to life for Biketoberfest beating

DELAND, Fla. (AP) - A Tennessee man is convicted of murder
and sentenced to life in prison for fatally beating a Biketoberfest
tourist at a Daytona Beach hotel last year.

32-year-old Jason Bowman was found guilty on Thursday of
killing 36-year-old James Earl Mason.

After the verdict was read, a circuit judge handed down the life sentence.

According to authorities Bowman, 24-year-old William McMinn and 39-year-old Juanita Liebman hit and kicked Mason multiple times in his hotel room and robbed him.

Mason later died at a hospital.

He and his mother had been in town for the festival, which is held every October.

McMinn previously pleaded no contest to a second-degree murder
charge. Liebman is expected to be tried later on a murder charge.
