MELBOURNE, Fla. (AP) - State legislative seats - and not the top
of the ticket presidential race - were the main focus of a campaign
swing led by Gov. Charlie Crist and Republican leaders.
Crist, state party chairman Jim Greer and incoming House Speaker
Ray Sansom flew to Sarasota, West Palm Beach and Melbourne and
told small crowds of Republican loyalists to vote early.
While Crist also told the groups to vote for Sen. John McCain,
most of his remarks were directed at state House and Senate races.
The campaign swing was timed to take advantage of the first day of
early voting ahead of the Nov. 4 election.
