UF Police Arrest Man Allegedly Carrying Gun

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - University of Florida Police have
arrested a man who was allegedly found carrying a gun on campus.

An Alachua County Jail spokesman says 25-year-old Ernest Booker
is facing charges of possession of a weapon on school property,
possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon and
providing false information to officers.

Authorities say Booker was found inside a building on campus.
Authorities say that when police asked if he had anything else
besides an inhaler in his pocket, he allegedly said he was carrying
a gun.

Booker was initially being held without bond at the jail
Wednesday.

Authorities say Booker is not a student or an employee. They say
they don't know why he was in the building, but he didn't make
threats against anyone.
