ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say skeletal remains uncovered from a west Florida park nearly two decades ago are those
of a young missing woman.
Melinda Harder was 20-years-old when she disappeared in 1980. Police say she'd left home to walk to her boyfriend's house and never arrived.
Nine years later, a bulldozer uncovered the skeletal remains of a woman. Investigators concluded she'd died of homicidal violence but were unable to identify her.
Forensic evidence and DNA from Harder's relatives recently led to a match.
Police say there are no suspects.
