HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (AP) - With a $300,000 donation from the Seminole Tribe, gambling addicts across Florida can receive free treatment for their problem.
The Florida Council on Compulsive Gambling, a nonprofit organization, plans to begin a free treatment program for gambling addicts with the funding.
The organization announced its plans Tuesday at the Florida Gaming Summit at the Seminole-owned Hard Rock Hotel and Casino near Hollywood.
The council receives state funding for outreach and training programs for doctors. The state funding prohibits any money from going toward treatment.
The council has not decided where to locate its first four treatment centers.
