State reviews police shooting that killed teen

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - State authorities say the investigation into the death of a St. Petersburg teen fatally shot by police was complete and that no further action is necessary.

Gov. Charlie Crist had asked the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to review an investigation by State Attorney Bernie
McCabe into the shooting.

McCabe wrote a letter to the St. Petersburg police department stating that Officer Terrence Nemeth was in "lawful performance of his legal duty" when he killed 17-year-old Javon Dawson outside a crowded graduation party in June. Two of Nemeth's shots hit the teen in the back.

In a statement released Monday, FDLE authorities said the review found McCabe's office conducted a "complete and thorough investigation."
