Deputies from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic violence call at a residence on Pyle Road in the DeFuniak Springs area.
The victim had advised the deputies that her husband, Charles Junior Edgar, had been drinking all weekend and they had been arguing about their dogs the past two days.
Due to the situation the victim decided to leave and stay somewhere else. Her husband let her know she was not leaving and grabbed her and pushed her to the floor. She was able to get away and leave the house and call for help.
After the deputies arrived they tried making contact with Charles Edgar. While one Deputy was knocking on the door trying to see if he would come out, the second deputy was keeping an eye out in the yard watching an old abandoned building that was on the property.
At this point Charles Edgar came out of the abandoned building and asked “are you looking for me”.
The deputies observed a hand gun in his right hand. He started waving the handgun in the air in a threatening manner. As the deputies took cover and pulled their own weapons, Charles Edgar fired a round from his handgun in their direction.
The deputies then saw Charles Edgar fall back on the ground. The deputies approached Edgar who was lying on the ground with the handgun that he had just fired at his feet.
The gun was secured and as a precaution, EMS was called to check Charles Edgar out for any injuries. After he was medically cleared with no signs of injuries, Charles Junior Edgar was charged with one (1) count of Battery Domestic Violence and one (1) count of Assault on a Police Officer.
At this time Charles Junior Edgar is being held in the Walton County Jail Facility on a $ 200,000 bond
