Northwest Florida Teacher Suspended for Obama Comment

MARIANNA, Fla. (AP) - A Florida middle school teacher has been suspended after students said he used a racial epithet directed at
presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Seventh-grade social studies teacher Greg Howard reportedly wrote the word CHANGE as an acronym on the board and wrote an expletive with the letter 'N.'

The phrase he wrote has alternately be reported as "Can You Help A (expletive) Get Elected" and "Come Help A (expletive) Get Elected."

The incident happened last Friday at Marianna Middle School.

The Jackson County School Board said today that Howard has been
suspended without pay for 10 days and will be transferred to the
Jackson County Adult Education program. He is also required to
submit a letter of apology to his students and attend diversity and
sensitivity training.

Marianna is near Florida's border both with Alabama and Georgia.

The "N" word that white people can't say but the colored people have a hard time not saying it. If it's going to be banned, ban it for all.

His actions were reprehensive. You may call me what you may, But I do not take to kindly you using that word around my children. Howard should never be allowed back into a classroom, or school for that matter. All of you, bookmark this decision by the school Super, he had the opportunity to nip this in the bud but he chose to slap howard's hand and looked (wink wink, nod nod)the other way. This behavior will manifest itself again my friends, and it will cost all of us big tax bucks. Zero tolerance is the watch word here. The Super, his resolution, and the board members with their approval speak loud and clear "We condone this type of good ole boy behavior. It was all in fun", "lighten up people" No. ENOUGH! Howard is wrong, the Super is wrong and the entire board is wrong as well! All of you will pack your bags after the next local election. Zero tolerance!

Maybe he was trying to be funny, but he forgot that some jokes could be very expensive and yes that was an expensive joke and has cost him dearly. I believe this will serve as a lesson to those who just open thier mouth and speak for speaking sake without considering the audience and sensitivity of the matter.

For a person that is suspose to be teaching 7th grade social studies he should know better than to even think about using the n word at all. This is not american history it is social studies and that has nothing to do with the n word nor does it have anything to do with the two persons running for president. The only thing that he is teaching is for children to become racists. I believe that he should be suspended endefinantly to never return to teaching again besides if that was a black person that made a comment about Mccain that would have been the verdict.

He is supposed to be a TEACH-er. He is teaching the children to be racists, teaching them it's cool to tell "N" jokes. This man is in the WRONG profession. He needs to find a career where he can't influence the minds of our young people.

The story is bad enough. These comments beyond comprehension. He's a racist. If it's a joke, it's a racist joke. If you've heard it a million times, you're in a racist crowd.

Howard should be fired for inaccurate acronym. What about the Y. He is the reason we trail most industrialized nations in education. He also is a disgraceful fringe of the GOP. The same wing that gave us McCain over Romney - a huge mistake because of his religion. Furthermore, with a 180 billion dollar trade deficit, a weak dollar, a 10 trillion dollar national debt and 5.4 cpi and 6% unemployment the McCain campaign admitedly thinks the "economy is strong". Barry's color is the least of my worries. We the people...preserve the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.
