Man on Run for 27 Years Arrested in Cental Florida

HAINES CITY, Fla. (AP) - A 55-year-old man on the run for 27
years has been arrested in central Florida.

Anthony Ragno pleaded guilty in 1981 to transporting stolen goods across state lines, but authorities say he never reported to the jail for his one-year sentence. He was picked up Tuesday in Haines City, where he has lived under an assumed name the past 10 years.

U.S. Marshals say Ragno even faked his own death. They aren't yet sure how, but public records were made in 1981 showing he died.

Ragno had even been arrested and jailed by authorities six times in the past ten years. Federal agents didn't know because he used a different name and didn't report a Social Security number.
