FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - The Coast Guard has ended its search for a 21-year-old swimmer feared dead off waters in Fort Lauderdale.
Coast Guard officials were called to rescue Ricardo Lewis on Sunday, and continued searching until Monday afternoon. Two helicopters and two boats searched for the man, but no signs of him were found.
Meanwhile, in the Florida Panhandle, rescue officials said two men died in the Gulf because of turbulent rip currents. Recent tropical storms and hurricanes have created heavy surf and deadly rip currents along South Florida's coast.
