2 Stranded Motorists Killed by Swerving Car

PLANT CITY, Fla. (AP) - Two stranded motorists died after a car swerved and hit them on Interstate 4 near Plant City.

Jessica Dailey and John Bell had pulled their Ford pickup into the emergency lane on Sunday when a truck slowed to pull over and help.

A Florida Highway Patrol spokesman says Michael Redish had been driving behind the slowing truck and was unable to see Dailey and Bell. When Redish swerved to avoid the tractor trailer, he hit the two people and their truck.

Dailey died at the scene, and Bell died later at a Tampa hospital. Redish was taken to a Lakeland hospital and listed in serious condition.
