Florida wildlife officials say an algae bloom known as red tide has killed a record one-hundred-74 manatees since January off the state's southwest coast.
The manatees are exposed to algae's deadly toxins as they feed on sea grass.
Wildlife experts have already rescued 12 manatees suffering from the effects of red tide.
They say red tides aren't new -- they just usually don't linger this long.
