LAUDERHILL, Fla. (AP) -- A 71-year-old man has died in a South Florida house fire.
CBS Miami reports neighbors and firefighters were unable to rescue Eugene Wimbs from his Lauderhill home.
Witnesses told the station they heard Wimbs' wife crying for help early Saturday. She told them her husband was still inside the burning home.
Neighbors couldn't overcome the heavy smoke. When firefighters arrived, they pulled his body out of the house and administered CPR, but it was too late.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
