Woman Gets 10 Years for Fatally Shooting Friend

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) -- A Florida Panhandle woman will
spend 10 years in prison for fatally shooting her friend.

A Walton County judge actually sentenced Teresa McKee to 20
years on Thursday but suspended 10 years. The judge also ordered
McKee to undergo a mental health evaluation and treatment if
necessary.

McKee entered a manslaughter plea last month. A first-degree
murder trial in March ended with a hung jury.

Authorities say McKee killed her friend, 45-year-old Stephanie
Lockwood, in August 2009. The woman was found dead at her home from what appeared to be a shotgun blast to her face.

McKee confessed details to deputies during the investigation
that implicated her in Lockwood's death, but a defense attorney
convinced enough jurors that McKee's husband, Piper McKee, was a
possible suspect.
