The Bay County Sheriff's Office arrested a local woman today on charges related to the theft of more than $100,000.00 from a local church.
This is the second arrest in a month for Carla Croud for the theft of money from the St. Andrews Episcopal Church.
On September 26, 2011, the treasurer of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Panama City filed a complaint at the BCSO. The church had just been contacted by the manager of Dodge's Chicken who voiced his concerns over a woman that had been cashing checks at his store from the church for large amounts of cash. Carla Croud, finance secretary for the church, was arrested on 9/27/2011 and charged with Grand Theft and 35 counts of forgery.
Further investigation and an internal audit at the church have now revealed the amount of money unaccounted for is approximately $129,000.00. It is believed Croud cashed checks from the church at several businesses in Bay County. Croud, DOB 1/12/82, of 240 Harmon Avenue, Panama City, has been arrested again and charged now with Grand Theft, $100,000 or More.
The investigation continues and additional victims and charges are expected.
