On April 8, 2014 the Dothan Police Department made a felony arrest after responding to 900 Commons Drive on an assault complaint.
Upon the officer’s arrival, they were advised that the victim, a loss prevention employee at “Belks” department store, had attempted to stop an unknown female who left the store with merchandise that had not been paid for.
The employee told the officers the suspect hit her with a bag then fled the scene in a silver passenger vehicle.
A description of the suspect vehicle was given and broadcasted to other arriving officers.
An alert officer spotted the vehicle a short time later and the suspect, Donna Simmons, was taken into custody.
Simmons was arrested and charged with third degree robbery.
Donna Lynn Simmons, white female, 65 years of age, of Pinetree Drive was arrested and charged with third degree Robbery.
A bond amount has been set at $15,000.00. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
