A woman faces a theft charge after she allegedly took a wallet from a inside the rest room of a local business.
On May 26, investigators say the victim used the restroom of a local business and mistakenly left her wallet inside the room. As the victim left the restroom, she passed a woman now identified as Tammy Leon, 37, of Kinsey.
Realizing she’d left the wallet, the victim turned and waited for Leon to exit the restroom. As Leon opened the door, the victim looked inside and saw the wallet was no longer where she’d left it. When asked about the wallet, Leon denied seeing or taking it. The victim contacted the Dothan Police Department while Leon was still at the business.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with Leon and found the victim’s wallet empty in a trash can, and Leon to be in possession of items that were inside that wallet.
Leon was taken into custody and charged with second degree theft of property. Her bond amount was set at $15,000.
