Dozens Arrested in Warrant Roundup

Dale County, AL - Last week nearly 15 law enforcement agencies throughout the Wiregrass worked together in a Warrant Roundup Operation, and officials are calling it a success.

This is one example of how law enforcement can work together and accomplish one common goal. The Dale County Sheriff’s Office and Alabama State Troopers, as well as Ozark, Daleville, Newton, Level Plains and Midland City Police Departments are merely half of the agencies that joined forces to round up some outstanding warrants in Dale County.

“On all accounts and all agencies it was a success, “ says Captain Marlos Walker with the Dale County Sheriff’s Office.

Last Thursday during a warrant round up operation in Dale County, over 75 warrants were served and over 50 arrests were made. A large percentage was done without incident.

“We had a couple of foot pursuits. We didn’t have anybody get injured or hurt during this operation,” says Captain Walker.

Fifty law enforcement officers from 13 agencies dispersed throughout the county for the six hour operation.

Captain Walker adds, “A couple of times a year we have operations like DUI or Warrant details that we do the get the chance to get together. The camaraderie between everyone is a great balance.”

Although dozens of arrests were made, it’s barely a dent in they stack of outstanding warrants in the county.

“5 years or less, we probably have over 1,000 – 2,000. We still have older warrants that go back would probably put us in the 3 thousands,” says Captain Walker.

But authorities remain pleased with the results.

Captain Walker says, “I was excited more so for the coming together of all the law enforcement personnel, and to be able to work together and achieve one common goal.”

During the roundup, police also made 8 drug arrests, shut down 1 meth lab and prevented a robbery in progress.
