The Bay County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the woman responsible for snatching an elderly woman’s wallet and using her credit cards to steal $400 from her.
According to the victim, on September 26, at about 3:15 pm, she was walking back to her hotel room along Front Beach Road on the west end of the beach. She was approached by a woman who asked for directions. The victim responded by telling her she was not familiar with the area. At that point, the suspect snatched the wallet from under the victim’s arm and fled.
Within minutes, the suspect was able to change the PIN number on the victim’s credit card and stopped at an ATM to get a $400 cash advance. Approximately 40 minutes after the incident, the suspect is believed to have burglarized a parked car in Destin, Florida, stealing more credit cards.
The credit cards from both incidents were found abandoned in a wooded area on Eglin Air Force Base.
The ATM camera was able to capture images of the suspect. She appears to be driving a ’95 to ’98 white Nissan Altima. Anyone with information about this suspect is asked to call the Bay County Sheriff’s Office at 747-4700 or Crime Stoppers at 785-TIPS.
