A Walton County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit discovered 1,513 marijuana plants northwest of Defuniak Springs on Monday.

The aviation unit discovered the plants as part of an on-going eradication effort. Investigators were notified and responded to the area of Dr. Nelson Road and Raley Road.

The 1,513 plants were seized in a heavily wooded area. The plants ranged in size, some were in small potted plants in trays while others were a couple of feet tall. The street value of the plants at full maturity would be worth $3 million.

The marijuana was pulled and transported to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, where it was turned over to evidence to be destroyed.

At this time, there are no known suspects.
