WCSO Makes Arrest after Manhunt

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reports as a result of a two day manhunt a felony fugitive wanted on child pornography charges from Levy County has been apprehended and is currently being held at the Washington County Jail on a $200,000 bond.

Arrested and charged was:

John Edgar Rigby, 54 year old white male
• Possession of Obscene Material
• Possession of Child Pornography
• Unlawful Use of Electronic Device to Seduce a Child

Washington County Sheriff’s Office, working off a tip that Rigby was in the Washington County area, initiated a ground search assisted by US Marshal Regional Fugitive Task Force comprised of US Marshals, Bay County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson Sheriff’s Office, Panama City Beach Police Department and Florida Department of Law Enforcement as well as the Chipley Police Department. The search originated in the Greenhead area where Rigby was last seen.

Fugitive Task Force members concluded the investigation with the arrest of Rigby without incident at Blue Lake Park in Chipley at 12:10 a.m. this morning.
