LAWRENCVILLE, Ga. (AP) -- Authorities said they are trying to resolve a standoff with a man who they say fired gunshots into the air and then refused to leave his apartment in Lawrenceville.

WSB-TV reports that the man's girlfriend ran out of the apartment without clothing and left a 1-year-old child behind. Gwinnett police said they responded to a dispute between the boyfriend and girlfriend at the apartments on Sweetwater Road around 9:20 a.m. Monday.

Gwinnett police Cpl. Edwin Ritter said officers have been trying to negotiate with the boyfriend, who refuses to come out. He said a
SWAT team was called to the scene around 12:30 p.m.

I would never leave my child behind. She must have been really frightened to run out naked and leave her child.I would have been ashamed to run out naked. If he wouldn't let me have my child, I wouldn't leave. But of course the child may be his not hers. But to run out naked, in front of strangers---oh, my God.I couldn't do that.
