GENEVA, Ala. (AP) - A judge found a Geneva city councilman guilty of charges relating to interference with a Geneva County sheriff's burglary investigation.

Attorney John Knowles said Geneva County District Court Judge Stephen Smith found his client, Rufus Lee, guilty of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Deputies arrested Lee in December 2010 and charged him with the
two misdemeanors.

Knowles said his client has appealed the court's decision to Geneva County Circuit Court.

Geneva County Sheriff Greg Ward said earlier that deputies arrested Lee after they searched a trailer that belonged to Lee's daughter as part of an ongoing burglary investigation at a nearby business in downtown Geneva.
