The Washington County Drug Task Force (WCDTF) has arrested two men following a drug investigation as part of an ongoing marijuana eradication initiative.
The task force, made up of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Chipley Police Department, explains in a press release that it has been doing months of undercover surveillance.
WCDTF investigators were able to identify and apprehend two suspects in separate cases involving marijuana cultivation. The first of which was apprehended on the property in the process of caring for the marijuana plants.
During a search of the property, WCDTF investigators found a methamphetamine lab in the form of a shake and bake bottle which contained a substance which tested positive as methamphetamine.
John Ernest Grantham, 52, of Wausau, FL was arrested and charged with cultivation of Marijuana, possession of Marijuana, manufacturing of Methamphetamine and possession of a control substance without prescription.
During surveillance of a second location, WCDTF investigators were able to apprehend the suspect in the process of caring for 5 of the 68 total marijuana plants found on the property.
Cody Durran Birge, 32, of Chipley, FL was arrested and charged with cultivation of Marijuana.
