Trial Requested in Investigation Against Former Houston County Judge

The State Judiciary Commission has now formally requested a trial for retired District Judge John Steensland, Jr.

Steensdland retired rather abruptly in May of this year. At the time, the commission was investigating alleged misconduct and unethical conduct claims waged against him dating back to 1996.

Earlier this month, the judicial inquiry commission released a complaint with seven counts and 60 charges, including a veteran claiming to have been mistreated during traffic court and others who were allegedly jailed without cause for proper warrants.

Steensland is also accused of using profanity, not being impartial and lacking decorum while on the bench.
