OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) -- The trial for a man accused of fatally shooting three people at a party in 2012 is scheduled to begin April 14.
A judge set the trial date for Desmonte Leonard during a status hearing on Tuesday afternoon.
Leonard is charged with capital murder, attempted murder and assault in the killing of DeMario Pitts of Opelika and former Auburn football players Ladarious Phillips and Ed Christian during a pool party June 0, 2012.
Defense Attorney Jeffrey Duffy says Leonard is ready to go to trial and officials say the trial is expected to last about three weeks.
