Three Arrested in Panama City Shooting, Investigation Continues

The Panama City Police Department continues to investigate a shooting incident that occurred on June 8 at approximately 3 p.m.

Ronald L. Richardson, 29, was identified as the driver of the Dodge truck involved in the shooting.

Richardson was arrested on the day of the shooting and charged with felon in possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers and detectives began searching for the other vehicle involved in the shooting and its occupant(s). The vehicle was described as a late 1990’s or early 2000 model blue Jeep Cherokee with an Alabama tag.

On June 12 officers with the Pensacola Police Department contacted Panama City detectives after they located the blue Jeep Cherokee in their city.

The vehicle had bullet holes from the shooting and a handgun was located in the vehicle.

The occupant of the vehicle in Pensacola was identified as Jerome Watts, 25.He was taken into custody by Pensacola Police for an unrelated warrant out of Bay County for cocaine possession and local Pensacola charges. Based on information learned and evidence collected throughout the investigation, warrants were obtained for Jerome Watts in reference to the shooting incident on June 8 in Panama City.

Watts will be held in the Escambia County Jail until his extradition to Bay County. He has been charged with felon in possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle, and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle.

Through evidence collected and information learned during the investigation, Tevin Brown, 22, was identified as the other shooter in the Jeep Cherokee involved in the Panama City shooting incident. Brown’s whereabouts were unknown, and both Brown and Watts were known to frequent the Panama City and Pensacola areas.

Warrants for Brown’s arrest were obtained, charging him with felon in possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, and three counts of attempted murder for shooting at Richardson and two other persons on June 8.

Further investigation revealed that Brown targeted Richardson on more than one occasion and intended to kill him.

Assistance was requested from the United States Marshals Florida Regional Task Force to help locate and apprehend Brown. The task force is comprised of U.S. Marshals and members the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Panama City Police Department, and Bay County Sheriff’s Office.

Members of the task force apprehended Brown on June 18, at approximately 6p.m. near 11th Street and Kurze Avenue.

In addition to the warrants, Brown was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Bay County Jail.

This incident remains under investigation and further details cannot be released at this time.
