On Monday, October 8, 2012, the Jackson County Drug Task Force was notified of suspicious prescriptions being passed by Jennifer Brown Campbell at a local pharmacy in Marianna, Florida. The pharmacy had determined that a prescription passed on October 8, 2012 for Hydrocodone containing medication was a forgery.
Investigators with the Drug Task Force began looking into other prescriptions passed by Campbell and determined them all to be forgeries. The forged prescriptions appear to have began in March of 2012 and continued to date with all of them being for varying amounts and types of Hydrocodone containing medication.
A search warrant was applied for and received for Campbell’s residence and executed on the evening of Monday, October 8, 2012. During a search of that residence several prescription bottles were located as was documentation of receiving the fraudulent prescriptions. Also located in Campbell’s possession were blank prescriptions from a local hospital where Campbell is employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
During the investigation it was determined that Campbell was stealing blank prescriptions, writing them to herself for Hydrocodone containing medications and forging the doctor’s signature. Campbell on at least one occasion forged a prescription in her husband’s name as well. Campbell would then pass them at the pharmacy and return to pick up the medication. As of this time (8) fraudulent prescriptions have been identified totaling 400 pills.
Campbell was placed under arrest on 8 counts of Obtaining a Prescription of a Controlled Substance Through Fraud. Campbell was transported to and housed in the Jackson County Jail to await First Appearance. This investigation is still ongoing and additional charges on Campbell may be filed and additional suspects are expected to be identified in this investigation.
