Jamie Hood was arrested on a murder warrant late Friday night after releasing the nine adults and children he had held captive for hours while negotiating with law enforcement officials.

Sheriff's Sgt. Doug Mattocks said the 33-year-old Hood has not been scheduled yet for a bond hearing or an initial court appearance.

It was unclear if he had an attorney.

Hood is charged with murder in Tuesday's fatal shooting of Athens-Clarke County police officer Elmer "Buddy" Christian.

Police said Christian and another officer were wounded while trying to apprehend Hood.
