DECATUR, Ga. (AP) -- Two people who encountered a gunman accused of opening fire inside a suburban Atlanta school say he told them was off his medication, though a motive remains unknown.

Antoinette Tuff, the bookkeeper at Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy, told ABC's "Good Morning America" Wednesday the suspect told her he hadn't taken his medication. She said he added that he was going to die, along with police officers. Tuff is credited with calming the suspect and convincing him to surrender Tuesday. No one was hurt.

Investigator T.L. Wortham of the DeKalb County Sheriff's Fugitive Unit tells WSB-TV that as officers were apprehending him, he said "I'm sorry, I'm off my meds."

Authorities say 20-year-old Michael Brandon Hill faces numerous charges, including assault on a police officer and making terroristic threats.
