DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) -- An attorney for a former Dothan school resource officer who was arrested on accusations of having an inappropriate relationship with a student is requesting a bond reduction.
Cada Carter, an attorney representing 37-year-old ex-officer Lanice Clifton Bonds, filed the request Wednesday. Bonds was arrested earlier this week on charges associated with a relationship he's accused of having with a student in October 2012.
The Dothan Eagle reports that Bonds is being held in the Houston County jail on $250,000 bail. Carter has said the bond amount for his client is the same as no bond being granted at all.
The newspaper reports Bonds worked as a school resource officer for at least five years before he was fired.
