Recently, calls have been made to at least 3-businesses regarding a Dothan Utility bill.
Authorities say the person, an American female, is calling from a blocked number and claiming to be with the utilities company demanding a credit card number for payment.
"If you receive a call like that the best thing to do is disconnect immediately, give no information and then feel free to call the utilities to confirm that everything is ok with your account,” said Dothan Police Sergeant Rachel David.
Police say Dothan Utilities will never ask for a credit card number for a payment and they will never threaten to disconnect automatically.
Luckily, there have been no victims in this scam.
