Police-Involved Shooting

Three Panhandle law enforcement officers are on leave after the fatal shooting of a man who had barricaded himself in his home.
The Northwest Florida Daily News reports the three members of the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office SWAT team fired on 55-year-old Jeffrey Allen Wright after they had tried to serve him with a felony arrest warrant for counterfeiting. Authorities say Wright was told several times to come out of the home unarmed, but that he instead told officers to come into the home and get him. They said Wright had begun to break out the windows in his home using a handgun.
Authorities say the three deputies will remain on paid administrative leave until the Florida Department of Law Enforcement completes an investigation of the shooting.
