Panama City Pedestrian Fatality

The Panama City Police Department is investigating a traffic crash involving a 2004 Lincoln sedan and a pedestrian that occurred in the east bound lanes of the 500 block of W. 15th Street.

Panama City Police officers and traffic investigators responded to the scene at approximately 5:15 pm. A 52-year-old adult male pedestrian was transported by EMS to a local hospital for serious life threatening injuries. The 76-year-old driver and a passenger of the car were not injured in the crash.

The eastbound lanes were closed for officer safety as the scene was investigated and should be re opened by 9:00 pm. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased by medical personnel at 6:45 p.m. as a result of the crash.

The preliminary investigation shows that the vehicle was east bound on 15th Street and the pedestrian attempted to cross from the north in front of the vehicle and was struck.

This crash remains under investigation and the names of those involved will not be released at this time until notification of next of kin is made.
