Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Threat Made with Box Cutter

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report that a man grabbed a woman on a Shalimar roadway and threatened her with a box cutter.

The 20-year old female says she is part of a group from out-of-town that is doing magazine solicitations in the Shalimar area. She says she was walking on 6th Avenue around 8:45 p.m.on Tuesday night when a man pulled up driving a white Mercury sedan and asked her what she was doing. When she told him, he got out of the car, leaving the door open, and began talking to her about magazines.

She says when she began writing information; he grabbed her and displayed a box cutter. He made a threatening remark and she was able to run away to a nearby store and contact law enforcement. She had no injuries.

She describes the man as a young black male with a short-cut Afro and goatee facial hair, about 5’5” tall, with a thin build. She says when he opened the car door she saw a child seat inside the car.
