The Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) seeks public assistance in locating Jason Allen Hamilton, 31, of 660 White Creek Road in Ponce de Leon, Fla., for manufacturing untaxed moonshine whiskey.

The WCSO investigation began March 3 after deputies received information alleging that Hamilton was manufacturing untaxed moonshine at his residence. Investigators executed a search warrant March 7 at Hamilton’s residence and recovered drug paraphernalia, three firearms and materials used to manufacture moonshine.

This is a joke! With the amount of METH that exists throughout this same area, it seems as if the WCSO would focus on that instead of going after a small time moonshiner, who as I understand it, was making the stuff for his personal consumption. Go after the individuals who are cooking Meth and selling it to the kids in the area. That would be a more effective and appropriate use of WCSO's time and resources, which we, the tax payer, are funding! I would rather see my hard earned money spent eliminating Meth rather than seeing it wasted on a small time moonshiner.

Now son, you're wanted by the law, your best bet is turn your self in.Once you're wanted by the law, you're wanted---it just don't go away. You can't do anything about this till you step up. I'm telling you the same thing I'd tell my own son. You can't right a wrong, if you don't try. Lots of folks say your a good and honorable guy,now prove it!

If you don't like the laws contact your Legislation and ask for the law to be change. Don't get mad at the officers doing their job by enforceing them. While your at it get the speed limit raised and taxes lowered. Maybe you can take Obama's place.

For Real?! Moonshine? Come on now WCSO!! There is people all over Walton County making and selling Meth and all your worried about is someone who made a little Moonshine. I think maybe you should get another job!! And the only reason y'all even messed with him is because the government can't tax it!! It's bull crap!! He wasn't doing nothing wrong, just trying to support his family like anybody else.

This should be a non issue, and more for the IRS to deal with rather then the police. Alcohol isn't outlawed, it's not prohibition, so it's only a tax issue. If no one was harmed, it should just be an audit of his income and it doesn't sound like that's happened yet. The story doesn't say if those guns were registered in his name legally or not either.

this has got to be the biggest joke of all. Who dosent have a lil moonshine in the shed or at the river house? Jake is an outstanding person wonderful father and one of the truest friends anyone could ask for. Its things like this that make life for us small town people hard to live. Honestly times are extremely hard and he was trying to provide for his family, its not like he was using drugs or abandoning his kids like most men excuse me i mean boys from this small town. Atleast he was trying to be a father. So let this go and move on to the more serious cases like guys who dont pay child support and have yet to spend any jail time. So just sit back Jake take it easy this will all work out in the end!
